On 20 June 2018, a life-sized statue commemorating all the East African Askari soldiers who fought for the Allies in two world wars was unveiled at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.
The King’s African Rifles and East African Forces’ Associations commissioned Vivien Mallock to create the statue which shows the Askari warrior in WW1 field uniform with a Lee Enfield rifle. The statue was then cast in bronze by the Talos Art Foundry which is also based at Project Workshops in Hampshire.
