Brigadier James Hill
Bronze, life size
Unveiled on 5 June 2004 by HRH the Price of Wales as part of the D Day 60th anniversary celebrations, this piece shows Brigadier James Hill as he was aged 32, commanding the 3rd Parachute Brigade in Normandy.
The bronze is installed at Memorial Pegasus, Normandy. Badly wounded, he is shown walking with a thumbstick which became his trademark during the battles his brigade fought in this area.
